- About Harry Ruddock III -
I am an artist that resides in Deerfield. I am largely self taught but have attended art studies at Greenfield Community College and have studied with other local artists in the past. Although art is not my full time job, I have enjoyed painting local scenes for over 30 years in a variety of mediums in my free time . I also belong to various art associations such as the Deerfield Valley Art Association and other watercolor societies from around New England. People may recognize my work through past local and national shows. As a result of some of those shows, I have won awards for my work. I was also featured in the Greenfield Recorders Arts and Entertainment page.
What do you like most about The Daylily?
"The Daylily has been a great place to show and sell my work. They are friendly and easy to work with and do a great job promoting artists attached to their gallery. The staff are art connoisseurs who take great pride in their artists and I feel my art is in good hands in the shop."
I mainly work in watercolor but I have worked in a variety of other mediums as well. My subject matter depicts common New England scenes, many of which are recognizable to people from the area. These scenes are usually landscapes or seascapes but can also depict still lives of various New England visuals. They also sometimes feature people engaged in common activities of the area. My work has been described as slightly impressionistic with a loose watery style that tends to depict movement but I am always striving to depict a mood of a moment. Above all, my paintings are a result of daily observation of my surroundings, the people, nature, and how they interact with one another.
